Dynamic helical cables and umbilicals have been operating in a range of offshore environments for the past 35 years in support of oil and gas developments and from a variety of hosts in dynamic environments globally. This presentation will discuss the knowledge and lessons learnt from these complex power cable systems used typically in the oil and gas domain that can be applied to the domain of floating offshore renewables, such as floating wind and tidal power generation, but with some caveats.
